Having joined the Practice in 1999 and as Partner from 2005, Derek leads the post planning process within Stockwool, managing the detailed design and construction phases of a diverse range of projects.
With an extensive knowledge of building processes, techniques and materials, Derek works closely with both his project teams and clients to ensure the very highest levels of design quality and finish. His strong management skills and thorough technical coordination of the design development process have allowed him to successfully lead a range of large and complex schemes from planning approval through to completion on site.
His wide-ranging delivery experience features large residential and mixed-use developments across London, including apartment buildings of up to 35 storeys, new schools and fully fitted-out offices as part of mixed-use schemes. Many of his projects also feature off-site construction, both in relation to façade systems and elements of fit-out. Of note is the White City Living development for St. James, featuring precast concrete façade panels as well as bathroom and services cupboard pods fully manufactured off site. With buildings ranging from 12 to 27 storeys, the scheme features 838 mixed tenure apartments, including 60 for extra care, together with associated communal facilities including residents’ lounges, a swimming pool, a gymnasium and cinema rooms.
Within the Practice, Derek oversees financial management. He also oversees our Technical Design Review programme, which involves technical audits of all schemes at key stages during their design development.
