Tarling Estate Regeneration

Residential Bespoke Housing Mix And New Public Space On Compact Inner City Site

An ambitious programme for a compact 0.72ha site which despite its central, well-connected location, lacked vibrancy and quality. The design, completed in partnership with S333 Architects, included extending and enhancing an important local street and creating new public spaces, shops and facilities whilst also providing a diverse range of modern living environments.

The scheme includes six blocks ranging from three to four storey buildings to a 20-storey tower and comprises 221 new homes in total. The street based form with a terrace of family homes, a perimeter block and a high rise block focused on two new streets ensure simple access arrangements.

Of the affordable rent units, 43 are designed for large families comprising five and six bedrooom contemporary terrace homes directly addressing the street. Three or four bedroom stacked maisonettes also have private front doors.
