Sometimes it’s just one piece of local knowledge that can become the guiding principle behind a project. For us, engaging with the local community is not only key to securing buy-in for a project, it is invaluable in informing the design process and creating better buildings. Ensuring that our buildings meet the needs of the communities they serve is central to our design ethos and a starting point for every single one of our projects.

Our design process begins with a detailed study of a site’s context, both physical and social. Through this, we develop an understanding of the opportunities and challenges surrounding the project. We then encourage clients to work with us to engage with the local community to create great places to live that are appreciated by residents.

Our approach is to tailor the consultation process to suit the project, making sure it will meet the needs and expectations of all those involved. To do this, we employ a variety of engagement techniques depending on the requirements of the client, project and local residents. These range from low-key, small-scale open house events to large-scale public meetings, email campaigns and blogging/social media campaigns.
