Since joining Stockwool in 2002, he has developed a portfolio of residential, mixed-use and community projects across London. Having become a partner in 2015, Ewout works closely with his client teams - steering colleagues and external consultants in developing design proposals which offer maximum benefit to both stakeholders and local communities.
Although Ewout has called London home for over two decades, his approach to architecture continues to be informed, in part - by his work and study in his native Belgium. Among the numerous projects in which Ewout has played a lead role, The Silk District — a new urban quarter in Whitechapel for L&Q Group and Mount Anvil, demonstrates his expertise in large-scale urban interventions. The scheme offers extensive SME workspace alongside over 600 new homes, delivering the first major component of the Whitechapel masterplan. His detailed understanding of modern methods of construction and tall building design has proven invaluable in the design of this and many other of the Practice’s most successful schemes. Additionally, Ewout oversees a portfolio of development projects for Aitch Group, realising the potential of numerous challenging brown-field sites.
Within the office, Ewout heads up the Practice’s Sustainability Working Group, investigating and implementing ways in which our projects and the Practice itself can benefit from environmentally friendly initiatives, processes and technologies.
Ewout complements his love for architecture with a love of two-wheels, speeding through the countryside at weekends on either his beloved motorbike or bicycle.
