John approaches each new project with a view to maximising a site’s capacity, whilst identifying any potential issues through his extensive development experience and in-depth knowledge of the planning process. This approach provides clients with the confidence to secure sites in competitive bid processes. Crucially, John’s understanding of the financial priorities for development ensures a successful blend of commercial sense and design quality.
As demonstrated by his work in the private residential development sector and with affordable housing organisations, John has a particular interest in developing mixed use regeneration initiatives. Often this work — such as Ailsa Wharf in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets — seeks to address challenging socio-economic and housing needs through regeneration. Here, working with a consortium of landowners and developers, a planning consent was secured for 785 new homes across 2.4ha of heavily contaminated industrial land set within a mixed-use masterplan for the Poplar Riverside Housing Zone.
When not juggling the complexity of site negotiations, John enjoys clearing his head exploring the countryside with his energetic dogs.
