Belmont Junior School, Mill Hill

Contemporary multi-purpose school building in an historic setting

This new multi purpose hall has become a focal building for Belmont School housing an airy, flexible hall space with kitchens and servicing to the rear. Six classrooms together with an office and toilets are located on the first floor.

The new building closes the previously incomplete quad and its height respects both the scale of the adjacent Grade II listed chapel and the neighbouring science block. The hall consists of two elements; the front entrance foyer with brick and stonework and the rear hall and classroom block with a lightweight timber frame construction, allowing a large glazed gable end with timber slatted louvres for solar shading, overlooking the grounds.
