Queen's Yard, Hackney Wick

A comprehensive mixed-use redevelopment of Queen’s Yard in Hackney Wick will provide significant improvements to the current setting of the yard and the existing buildings. The new development will provide housing, flexible workspace studios, commercial units and a 100-seat theatre that will add to the existing creative employment and leisure community in Hackney Wick.

The scheme will deliver improvements to the street and canal frontages, public space improvements within the yard itself including improved servicing and access in around the new and existing commercial units. This scheme will deliver the aspirations of the Hackney Wick Masterplan that will provide a mix of tenure and residential units to provide a broad variety of new homes, from flexible starter one bedroom apartments to loft style two and three bedroom apartments and duplexes. The mix of flexible workspace units for small and medium sized enterprises will keep introducing vibrancy and activity to the yard and the local area. An improved public space around the existing and proposed buildings will enhance the functionality of the yard and maximise the permeability and quality of the public realm context.

The scheme will deliver

  • Flexible workspace employment units (c.2,816sqm), adaptable for a variety of tenant uses
  • A new stand-alone theatre building (a potential for up to 1,500sqm floorspace)
  • 143 new homes, including a range of apartment sizes from one bed studios to three bedroom duplex apartments..
