Our Ashburton Terrace scheme is LB Newham’s first detailed approval for co-living and comprises 175 beds in the heart of Plaistow for Landhold Developments Ltd. The Co-Living offer comes with affordable workspace, residential amenity spaces including a cafe, gym, cinema and business lounge, landscape roof terraces as well as ground floor landscaping and wider landscaped street improvements to the public realm.
The single building has been designed to maximise energy efficiency and exploits a good form factor, considered facade design, renewable energy and prioritises orientation. Overall the scheme is highly sustainable targeting BREEAM Excellent and a 111% Biodiversity Net Gain. The high-quality approach to the facade design draws on the local context in terms of materials, rhythm and proportions creating elevations that provide a legible built form that enhances its context.
The design was developed in close consultation with LB Newham; Stockwool led the design process explaining, and elaborating on, the co-living product and potential benefits to the Borough and the local community. This resulted in positive engagement with Newham Design Officers cumulating in their full support of the scheme.
