The Gate Aparthotel, Aldgate

A city fringe aparthotel

A new aparthotel in Aldgate creates a landmark scheme for Reef Group on the city fringe, providing a new accommodation offer for the area. The project redeveloped former run-down commercial units to provide a 189-bed, 21-storey aparthotel. Despite the relatively modest footprint of the site, space is maximised to accommodate 8,707m2 GIA.

Located close to Aldgate East station and Brick Lane, the aparthotel features a reception at ground floor and a business lounge on the fifth floor with a residents’ roof terrace. The upper floors of the scheme offer panoramic views over London.

The tower has a masonry base in keeping with the local street context, with a bronze and silver framed façade on the upper floors. Unitised cladding and podded bathrooms provided significant build efficiencies and a shroud scaffolding system also minimised the construction programme.
