Stockwool was appointed by Homes for Lambeth to deliver a mixed-tenure residential scheme on the former Patmos Lodge Care Home site in Oval, South London. The project replaced a long-vacant, overgrown site with 31 high-quality homes, half of which are affordable, ranging from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom houses.
The design reinstated active street frontages along Cancell Road and Lennox Road, with houses providing individual front doors, while respecting the local scale with 2–4 storey buildings and maximising dual-aspect properties. The scheme enhanced the boundary with the adjacent school, improved daylight and sunlight for surrounding properties, and introduced a central green space while allowing for potential future development on neighbouring land.
A consistent palette of textured buff brick was used to unify the three separate street frontages, creating a cohesive, high-quality development that successfully regenerated the site and contributed to Lambeth’s housing stock.
